Two landscapes by Thomas Locker in the Astor House second floor gallery.
The work of artist Thomas Locker, a New York treasure, is on view in the Astor House Gallery, on the second floor. Locker is a highly regarded painter in the Hudson River tradition, and an author/illustrator of children’s books. He has received the John Burroughs Award and the New York Times Award for best illustration, among other honors.
The Astor House and Mr. Locker are currently developing programs to connect with local schools, including field trips to meet the artist.

Kaaterskill Falls by Thomas Locker, now on view at the Astor House Gallery.
Locker captured the local landmark Kaaterskill Falls in his painting of the same name (shown here). This remarkable spot has been painted by most of the great Hudson River painters, starting way back with Thomas Cole’s Falls of Kaaterskill, painted in 1826.
